WELCOME TO THE 1ST ANNUAL BACKYARD SMOKEOFF TO BE HELD AT AUGIE'S BARBED WIRE SMOKEHOUSE PARKING LOT ON NOVEMBER 8, 2009! ALL INFORMATION FOR THE SMOKEOFF IS PROVIDED BELOW. A LATE BREAKING CHANGE: "ANY SIZE SMOKER/GRILL IS NOW ALLOWED!"
 
 

We want Abuelos, Tios, cousins, brothers & your family BBQ guy!
 

Team Registration ($250)
•
 Up to 4 team members
•
 All meat provided
•
 Judged on Smoked Turkey & Beer Can Chicken – turn in best Yard Bird
•
 Smoker/Grill Specifications: ANY SIZE SMOKER/GRILL ALLOWED
•
 Space: approx 10’x10’
•
 Must provide your own set-ups(tent, tables, etc…)
•
 Abide by all health regulations, $35 paid on day-of event to Health Inspector by team
•
 Must provide at least 1 pound(lb) of samples for judging time
•
 Limited space!
•
 WOOD & CHARCOAL ONLY!

Specialty Smoker Competition - $50
 

Smoke your best item (Shrimp, Beef, Quail, Pig, etc…) for your chance to win awesome prizes sponsored by Miller Lite!
 

Deadline for guaranteed entry is October 15, 2009.  Final registration is due by November 1, 2009.  Parking lot open from 4:00am-8:00am for set-up on day of the event for Smoker Contestants only.  All meat will be distributed at specific times and picked up for judging at specific times starting at 5am.  Health Permit is the responsibility of the team.
 

There will also be a contest for Best Dressed BBQ team & area!

Sellable/Wearable/Baked good items ONLY(no commercial food/beverage sales)

“ARt TEach” ($50) – Must provide appropriate documentation

Parking lot open at 6:00a-9:00a for set-up ONLY.
 
 

All BBQ registrants are entered into a Horseshoe Contest automatically with your registration fee!

 

 All contestants & vendors must vacate parking lot by 10:30pm.  Vehicles are NOT allowed in until 10:00pm.

Be part of the 1st Annual Backyard Smokeoff!

The Backyard Smokeoff will test the best of the best in their backyard smoking skills when it comes to BBQ!  Dozens of teams will compete for cash prizes, bragging rights & more as they go head to head with each other to see who really smokes the best meat in San Antonio!  We’re registering Abuelos, Tios, cousins, brothers & the family BBQ guy…the one that BBQs every Sunday!

We are currently accepting sponsor opportunities for the right organizations who feel they would benefit from having their name on this event.
